Community Homemakers Ltd. (operating as Community Care Services, or "CCS") was originally established in 1975 by a former homemaking Supervisor for the Canadian Red Cross in order to provide homemaking services in Metro Toronto. The Company's reputation as a quality care provider enabled  growth expanding the company's scope of services and service area.

In 1990 new ownership brought more evolution through developing CCS's formal operating policies, procedures, and standards. Services were again expanded to include the provision of both registered and non-registered health care providers to private clients and relief staffing for hospitals and long term care facilities. The company, through its President, assumed a leadership role in the community health sector. As Director and President of the Ontario Home Health Care Providers' Association, he played a key role in discussions with the Ontario Ministry of Health leading to the establishment of the managed competition model utilized by Ontario Community Care Access Centres for contracting of service providers. He also worked with George Brown College in the implementation of the inaugural program for certification of Personal Support Workers.

CCS became a member of the ProHome® Health Services Group in 1998. Trudell Medical invested in the Company by providing depth of management, a new location in Burlington, and a new state-of-the-art client scheduling system. From offices in Mississauga and Burlington, Community Care Services now services Western Greater Toronto Area, Peel and Halton regions with recent expansion into Hamilton-Wentworth.
