Kawartha Quality Care Inc. was originally founded in 1981 as Kawartha Health Services. In 1989 it became Kawartha Quality Care ("KQC") when a merger expanded its services to include health care staffing for long term care facilities and service to private clients. With offices in Northumberland, Victoria, and Peterborough counties,  KQC developed a shift nursing service and personal support / homemaking program for the clients of the Home Care Programs in those 3 counties, augmenting its private and institutional staff relief capabilities.

KQC became a member of the ProHome^® Health Services Group in 1997, at the time when Ontario's Home Care Programs were replaced by Community Care Access Centres and the managed competition model for procurement of community health services was introduced. Trudell Medical supplied KQC with the resources necessary to propose for and gain service delivery contracts and to honour client care commitments resulting from those contracts. KQC now offers nursing and personal support / homemaking services in Peterborough, Northumberland and Victoria counties and Durham Region from its Head Office in Peterborough.
